About the Course
The Littlefoot Triathlon is held entirely within Bear Creek Lake Park in Morrison, Colorado. The main entrance to Bear Creek Lake Park is located on Morrison Road, near its intersection with C-470. Click here for a map and directions to the park. Detailed course maps will be available here by mid-February.
Swim [750m]
Athletes will start on the Soda Lake swim beach and run into the water at the sound of the starter’s gun. The swim will be 750m in a clock-wise triangular fashion, finishing on the swim beach just slightly west of the start.
Transition One
Exiting the water at the swim beach, athletes will run up the beach, onto the sidewalk, and into the transition area where their bikes will be waiting. They will use the eastern-most exit of the parking lot to exit. Athletes can only get on their bikes at or after the mounting line which will be clearly marked. Athletes cannot ride their bikes in transition.
Bike [20km]
Upon exiting transition athletes will make their way east on the bike course. Less than one mile into the course they will reach the first turnaround where the road forms a T. They will travel back the way they came, past transition, past the park entrance (where a Lakewood Police Officer will be present to direct traffic and ensure the safety of the cyclists), and out toward the dam. Prior to reaching the dam they will reach the second turnaround, again making a 180 degree turn and going back the way they came. They will pass transition area and go out for a second lap. Upon completion of the second lap, athletes will enter transition at the western most point of the parking lot. Athletes must dismount prior to entering transition. The dismount point will be clearly marked.
Transition Two
After safely entering transition for a second time, athletes will rack their bikes and switch into their running gear. They will exit transition at the southeastern corner of the lot and make a right turn on to the sidewalk so that they are heading west.
Run [5km]
They will follow the sidewalk past the parking lot and to the dirt road where they will follow it for a straight stretch and then follow it as it forms a triangle, then sends them back the way they came. They’ll get back on the sidewalk, pass by the crowds of spectators lined up along the swim beach, and head out east on the path, through the far parking lot. After a short stretch on the grassy hill, they will make a right onto the bike path and take that to the end, where they will be greeted by volunteers telling them to turn around. They’ll head back the way they came and finish by following the path as it wraps around the grassy field and volleyball courts.
